I have decided to hold the seminar we have been talking about over the
last few months. It will be held June 12, 13, and 14th, 2005. This is the
immediate three days preceding the ASIA conference which is being held
about two hours from my shop. Therefore, the idea is to make an entire
week of intensive learning about the intricacies of making a guitar. Fly or
drive in, come to Luray, VA for the seminar and then on to Maryland for
the ASIA conference.
The seminar will include 2 days of intense focus on jigs and fixtures with
their specific application to the various parts of making an acoustic
instrument. When this portion concludes you will have learned new
methods of joining tops & backs, inlaying the back center seam, inlaying
the butt joint, making and shaping braces, cutting fret slots, shaping
fingerboards, shaping and beveling pickguards, making kerfing, basic
neck shaping, and bridge making. The last day of the seminar will focus
on teaching the newest, and most sophisticated but rewarding method of
fretting a guitar - the semi-hemispherical fretting method. This method
of fretting is brand new and done only by master craftsmen. You will
learn the technique!
The cost of the seminar is $250.00 per person. Funds are due upon
registration. It is limited to 5 people. It includes lunch but not lodging or
other meals. We will be happy to help arrange lodging for you. First come,
first served!
